Head Coach Tom Carmean
Head coach Tom Carmean enters his fifth season with the women's squash program after five years as assistant coach in the men's program. In his four seasons as the head of the women's team, Carmean has led Amherst to a 46-52 record in dual matches, highlighted by an impressive second place finish in the 2007 Walker Cup that was soon followed by a 2009 Walker Cup title. Amherst's 16-10 record last year marked the team's best finish since 2003-04. During his tenure, the Lord Jeffs have continually been ranked in the nation's top 20.
Carmean has also been the Amherst men's lacrosse coach since 2000, leading the Lord Jeffs to 75 wins in his first 10 seasons at the helm. A three-time All-America honoree at the University of Massachusetts and veteran of 11 seasons in professional lacrosse, Carmean twice led the Minutemen to the NCAA Quarterfinals before graduating with a degree in English in 1988. From there he tutored his former UMass teammates as a graduate assistant coach, earning a master's degree in education in 1992.
