Entering her 24th season, head coach Sue Everden has molded the Amherst volleyball program into one of the finest in the nation. Entering the 2009 season, Everden has guided the team to a 519-210 overall record, 19 postseason appearances, 17 20-win seasons, five NCAA Tournament berths and three NESCAC championships, twice earning NESCAC and New England Region Coach of the Year honors along the way. The Jeffs went 28-5 in 2006, marking the highest winning percentage (84.8%) of Everden’s tenure at Amherst, and also the second highest win total (Amherst won 30 matches in 1995). Everden out-did herself in 2007 by leading Amherst to a 30-5 mark, which included a trip to the NCAA Quarterfinals for the first time in program history.

After graduating from Slippery Rock University, Everden completed her master's degree at Springfield College and has spent the next 25 years coaching a variety of sports at several colleges, including Clarkson University, the United States Coast Guard Academy and her ongoing tenure at Amherst. In addition to her duties on the volleyball court, she guided the Amherst softball team to four consecutive postseason appearances (from 1999 to 2002) and has twice been named NESCAC Softball Coach of the Year in just eight seasons as head coach.

Everden is once again joined on the sidelines by assistant coach Roxann Link.
