Acton Named ECAC Division III New England Rookie of the Year
Aug. 15 - Amherst College’s Devin Acton ’14 has been named the 2011 Division III Men’s Lacrosse New England Rookie of the Year, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) announced today. Full Story

Amherst Places Fourth in Final Directors' Cup Standings
June 17 - After the most successful spring season in school history, Amherst College finished fourth in the final Division III Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup standings. This marks the fifth consecutive top-four finish for Amherst. Full Story

NESCAC Announces Spring All-Academic, All-Sportsmanship Teams
June 13 - Eighteen members of the Amherst College men's lacrosse team were recognized today when the NESCAC announced its 2011 Spring All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship Teams. Full Story

Redwood, Mann Take Home USILA Honors
May 24 - Co-captains Evan Redwood ’12 and Gabe Mann ‘11  recently added to the growing list of postseason accolades for the men’s lacrosse program by taking home  a pair of USILA Honors. Full Story

Amherst Ends Remarkable Season in NCAA Quarterfinals
May 18 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team's 15-10 loss to unbeaten RIT in the NCAA Championship quarterfinals marked the end of a remarkable season that featured the most wins in program history and the team's first-ever appearance in the national tournament. Full Story * Highlights

Jeffs Heading to RIT for National Quarterfinals
May 16 - With a 12-9 win over NESCAC rival Middlebury College on Saturday afternoon, Amherst will march on to the quarterfinal round of NCAA Tournament, advancing to face RIT this Wednesday. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Keep Rolling with 12-9 Win Over Middlebury
May 14 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team kept its record-breaking season alive with a 12-9 win over Middlebury. The Lord Jeffs will travel to take on undefeated RIT Wednesday in the national quarterfinals. Full Story

Amherst Hosting Middlebury in NCAA 2nd Round
May 12 - Fresh off the first NCAA Tournament victory in program history, the Amherst men’s lacrosse team will continue its postseason run by hosting Middlebury this Saturday. Full Story

Three Men's Lacrosse Student-Athletes Earn NEILA Honors
Three members of the Amherst College men’s lacrosse team earned 2011 NEILA All-New England accolades after helping the Lord Jeffs to a program-record 13 wins and the squad’s first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. Full Story

Redwood, Acton Key Men's Lacrosse Tournament Win Over Keene State
May 11 - Evan Redwood '12 netted a game-high four goals, while Devin Acton '14 added five points on a goal and four assists as men's lacrosse upended visiting Keene State 12-8 in the opening round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament. Full Story

Amherst Earns First-Ever NCAA Tournament Bid
May 8 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team will be making its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament courtesy of an at-large selection, as the Lord Jeffs will host Keene State this Wednesday. Full Story

Three Jeffs Named to All-NESCAC Team; Acton Tabbed Rookie of the Year
May 4 - Evan Redwood ’12, Alex Fox ’12 and Devin Acton ’14 were each named to the NESCAC Men's Lacrosse All-Conference Second Team today, with Acton also grabbing the conference’s Rookie of the Year honor. Full Story

Men's Lacrosse Suffers 14-9 Loss To Bowdoin in NESCAC Quarterfinals
May 1 - On the strength of a 5-1 fourth quarter run, Bowdoin upset Amherst, 14-9, on Gooding Field. Entering the contest with a 13-game win streak, the Jeffs fell for just the second time this season. Full Story

Cherney's Late Heroics Lift No. 9 Men's Lacrosse Past No. 13 Trinity
Apr. 29 - Amherst College junior attack Cole Cherney '12 netted two goals in the final 3:38, breaking a 6-6 deadlock, as the ninth-ranked men's lacrosse team stunned 13th-ranked Trinity, 8-6, on Gooding Field. Full Story

Apr. 27 - The Amherst College men's and women's lacrosse teams square off against league rival Trinity College this Friday, Apr. 29, in a pair of games that should have big NESCAC Championship implications for both programs. Full Story

Jakimo Named NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week
Apr. 25 - Amherst junior goalie Sam Jakimo ’12 has been named the NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week after helping the Lord Jeffs extend their win streak to 12 games with a 4-2 victory over Wesleyan this past Saturday. Full Story

Jakimo Leads Amherst to First Win Over Wesleyan Since 1999
Apr. 23 - Sam Jakimo '12 made 18 saves and held Wesleyan scoreless for the final 55 minutes to lead the Amherst men's lacrosse team to its first win over the Cardinals since 1999, snapping a 13-game losing streak. Full Story

Amherst Edges Colby on Last-Second Overtime Goal, 7-6
Apr. 16 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team fell into a 3-0 hole for the second time in as many games, but the Jeffs earned a 7-6 win at Colby thanks to a goal from Beda Cha '14 with one second left in overtime. Full Story

Amherst Wins Thriller Against Springfield, 7-6
Apr. 13 - The 10th-ranked Amherst men's lacrosse team fell into an early 3-0 hole against Springfield but battled back for a 7-6 win, as Cole Cherney '12 broke a 6-6 tie with 2:46 remaining in regulation. Full Story

Jakimo Named NESCAC, ECAC Player of the Week
Apr. 11 - Amherst goalie Sam Jakimo ’12 has been named the NESCAC Player of the Week and ECAC Defensive Player of the Week for helping the Jeffs move into a tie for second place in the conference standings. Full Story

Amherst Bumps Win Streak to Nine with 11-8 Result at Williams
Apr. 9 - With an 11-8 win over Williams, the Amherst men's lacrosse team improved to 9-1 overall and 5-1 in the NESCAC. Currently ranked 12th in Division III, the Jeffs could crack the top 10 on Monday. Full Story

Apr. 7 - With the Lord Jeffs taking on archrival Williams College in three sports and competing for first place in two others, Amherst fans will have plenty of scoreboard watching to do these next few days. Full Story

Amherst Upsets Middlebury for First Time Since 1989
Apr. 6 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team upset 7th-ranked Middlebury by scoring the final three goals of Wednesday's game, as the Jeffs snapped a 25-game losing streak to the Panthers with a 9-7 result. Full Story

Amherst Set to Host Middlebury in Battle of Ranked Teams
Apr. 4 - The 12th-ranked Amherst men's lacrosse team is riding a seven-game winning streak, but the Lord Jeffs will have their hands full when seventh-ranked Middlebury comes to town this Wednesday. Full Story

Amherst Gets Six Points from Redwood in 15-8 Win Over Bates
Apr. 2 - Evan Redwood '12 recorded four goals and two assists to lead the 14th-ranked Amherst men's lacrosse team to a 15-8 win over Bates. The Lord Jeffs improve to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in the NESCAC. Full Story

Amherst Cruises to 17-9 Win at Wheaton
Mar. 29 - The 14th-ranked Amherst men's lacrosse team used a dominant first half to pick up a 17-9 win at Wheaton College. The Lord Jeffs improve to 6-1 on the season with their sixth consecutive victory. Full Story

Acton Named NESCAC Men's Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week
Mar. 28 - Amherst first-year Devin Acton has been named NESCAC Men’s Lacrosse Co-Player of the Week for recording five points during a 12-7 win over ECSU and six points in a 13-10 victory at Bowdoin. Full Story

Lord Jeffs Bump Win Streak to Five with 13-10 Result at Bowdoin
Mar. 26 - Devin Acton '14 scored five goals and Sam Jakimo '12 made 16 saves to lead the Amherst men's lacrosse team to a 13-10 win at Bowdoin. The Jeffs' fifth consecutive victory bumps them to 5-1. Full Story

Amherst Leads Eastern Connecticut from Start to Finish
Mar. 22 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team scored the first five goals of the game and led by at least three the rest of the way, as the Lord Jeffs improved to 4-1 with a 12-7 win over Eastern Connecticut State. Full Story

Amherst Shuts Down Conn. College, 10-3
Mar. 19 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team held Connecticut College to one first-half goal, as Sam Jakimo '12 made 10 saves and Aaron Mathias '14 scored four times to lead the Jeffs to a 10-3 win. Full Story

Cherney's Seven Goals Propel Amherst to 13-11 Win Over RWU
Mar. 17 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team used a lopsided third period and seven goals from Cole Cherney '12 to pick up a 13-11 win over Roger Williams Thursday afternoon on the campus of Brown University. Full Story

Late Goal Lifts Lord Jeffs to 11-10 Win at Endicott
Mar. 15 - Devin Acton '14 scored with 1:49 remaining in regulation to lead the Amherst College men's lacrosse team to an 11-10 win at Endicott College. Sam Jakimo '12 made 16 saves in net for the Lord Jeffs. Full Story

Amherst Falls to Top-Ranked Tufts, 13-9
Mar. 12 - The Amherst men's lacrosse team opened its 2011 season with a chance to knock off the top-ranked team in Division III, but the Lord Jeffs fell into an early hole and were dealt a 13-9 loss by Tufts. Full Story

Amherst Returns Five of Top Six Point Leaders from 2010
Mar. 8 - Amherst was capable of beating any team in the NESCAC when it played its best in 2010, but inconsistency left the Jeffs with a 7-7 record. Returning five of its top six leaders in points from a squad that ranked third in the NESCAC in scoring, Amherst is in search of its first postseason win since 2005. Preview

Amherst's Mann and Redwood Named Men's Lacrosse Captains
Dec. 11 - Amherst College head men's lacrosse coach Jon Thompson is pleased to announce that senior Gabe Mann and junior Evan Redwood have been elected the captain and alternate captain for 2011. Full Story

Eye on Athletics: Hitting the Ground Running
Oct. 27 - Jon Thompson was attracted to Amherst College by the people at the school and the community's way of thinking. As the new head coach of men's lacrosse, it won't be long before his way of thinking is attracting the best student-athletes to Amherst. Full Story

Evan Crosby Joins Amherst Men's Lacrosse Coaching Staff
Oct. 22 - Evan Crosby, a 2010 Tufts graduate and starter on the Jumbos' national title team, joins the Amherst men's lacrosse coaching staff as the final piece of the puzzle for first-year head coach Jon Thompson. Full Story

Patrick Hart Named Assistant Coach for 2011 Season
Sept. 8 - Amherst head coach Jonathon Thompson is pleased to announce that Patrick Hart has joined his coaching staff for the 2011 season. Hart graduated in 2005 from the College of the Holy Cross, where he was a four-year member of the lacrosse team and spent the past two springs as an assistant coach. Full Story

Amherst Names Jon Thompson New Head Coach of Men's Lacrosse
July 9 - Amherst College announced today that Jon Thompson has been selected as the head coach of men’s lacrosse following a national search. Thompson, who brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience, spent the past two seasons as the head coach at NESCAC rival Colby College. Full Story
