Paul Halas, Assistant Coach

Paul Halas enters his first year as a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff after a successful three-year stint as an assistant coach at his alma mater Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y.  During his first season with the Engineers, RPI posted a 15-13 record en route to the Liberty League title and the program’s first berth into the NCAA Tournament since 1996. The following season, Halas helped lead RPI to a 15-10 mark before guiding the Engineers to a 17-8 overall record in 2010-11.

A native of Sea Girt, N.J., Halas began his coaching career as an men’s basketball assistant coach at Drew University during the 2007-08 season. Graduating in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Communications, Halas appeared in 61 games as a member of the men’s basketball team. A captain during his senior year Halas received the school’s Henry Kumpf Award, given annually to a student-athlete who has demonstrated a strong degree of motivation, desire and determination in contributing to the success of the team.
