John Adamson, Interim Women's Head Coach
John Adamson enters his 17th year of coaching—15 of which have been spent at Amherst—but will switch gears during the 2011 season to serve as the interim head coach for the women’s cross country team.
For the past 15 years Adamson has been an assistant coach for Amherst’s track and field programs. During that time he worked primarily with the teams’ sprinters, hurdlers and jumpers, as he was responsible for the training and development of numerous All-America honorees, regional champions and NCAA qualifiers. In 2011 he was named the USTFCCCA New England Assistant Coach of the Year, helping the men’s indoor team post the best finish in school history.
Adamson graduated from nearby UMass Amherst, where he was a four-year track and field student-athlete. He and his wife, Samantha, reside in Belchertown and have twin 7-year-old boys, Brandon and Trevor.
