10) Women's Basketball Rises to the Challenge

8250696803_3bca4f9fee_oNov. 18 - With the graduation of a senior class that reached four consecutive Final Fours while piling up a 124-8 overall record, questions abounded for the women’s basketball team heading into the 2012-13 season. Facing its first big test against No. 23 William Paterson in the Tip-Off Tournament championship game, the new-look Jeffs started providing fans with some answers. Megan Robertson ’15 was every bit as dominant in the paint as her predecessors, scoring 17 points, while pulling down 15 rebounds en route to Tournament MVP honors. Veteran guard Marcia Voigt ’13 tied a single-game program record with 10 assists, while first-year Marley Giddins posted her first career double-double with 18 points and 12 boards. As for the Jeffs? It was business as usual, capturing a decisive 88-61 victory, the tip-off tournament title and soon enough, an 8-0 start. (Photo by Niahlah Hope '15)
