AMHERST, MA – The 2008 NESCAC Cross Country All-Conference Teams were announced today, with senior quad-captain Elise Tropiano (Plainview, NY) highlighting the Amherst College honorees by earning a First Team selection and being named the Most Outstanding Performer.

Tropiano improved on her seventh place performance in 2007 by winning the 2008 6-kilometer race in 21 minutes and 49 seconds as the lone runner to finish under 22:00. In addition to her Most Outstanding Performer honor and second consecutive First Team selection, Tropiano was named the NESCAC Women’s Cross Country Performer of the Week for the second time this season and the third time of her career.

While Tropiano was the lone Lord Jeff to garner All-NESCAC honors on the women’s side, a pair of Amherst runners cracked the top 14 to earn a spot on the men’s All-Conference Second Team. With identical times of 26:18 this past Saturday, juniors Dan Murner (Crestwood, KY) and Eric Holaday (Moorestown, NJ) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, to mark the first All-NESCAC honors of their careers.

The Amherst men placed third as a team at the conference championships, while the women finished fifth. Both Lord Jeff squads return to action Saturday, Nov. 8 when they head to Bristol, R.I. for the 2008 ECAC Championships.
