Men's Cross Country Places Fourth at Wesleyan

AMHERST, Mass. - The men's cross country team placed fourth in a field of 10 teams at the Wesleyan Invitational, with newcomer Dan Crowley '16 leading the Jeffs in 13th.

With three Amherst runners finishing breaking into the top-20 amongst a field of 95 harriers, Crowley led the way, turning in a top time of 27:16.20. Jeff Seelaus ’16 closely followed in 14th (27:19.10), while Pat Grimes ’13 came in 20th with a time of 27:33.30.

Eli Howe ’13 also put together a strong showing, clocking in at 27:59.10, while Scott Gemmell-Davis ’15 crossed the tape in 28:30.80. Brent Harrison finished the 8k course at Long Lane Farm with a time of 28:33.20, while Alex Durkee ’15 rounded out the Jeffs top seven with a 29:46.00.

Bowdoin, which saw its runners grab the top four spots, took home the team title with 18 points and an average time of 26:31.32. Coast Guard placed second with 81 points, followed by host Wesleyan (89), Amherst (97) and UMass-Dartmouth (169) in the top-five.

The Jeffs will next compete at the Paul Short Run in Lehigh, Pa. on Friday, Sept. 28.
