Jeffs Take Second at Little Three Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – After finishing third a year ago, the Amherst College men’s cross country team took second at this year’s Little Three Championship, hosted by the Jeffs on Saturday. Greg Turissini ’15 led the way for Amherst, placing sixth in 26:23.9 as the Jeffs finished between rivals Williams and Wesleyan.

In a tight lead group, Chris Lee of Williams emerged as the individual winner, clocking in at 26:11.8. Wesleyan’s Bryan Marsh was next in 26:16.8, followed by the Ephs' Wade Davis (26:19.1), Scot Rodilitz (26:19.5), and Brandon Abasolo (26:23.6). Turissini was next, missing the top five by just three-tenths of a second.

Williams cruised to the team victory, collecting 23 points, while Amherst easily outran Wesleyan for second, finishing with 46 points to the Cardinals’ 61.

Key to Amherst’s improvement at this year’s race were KC Fussell ’15 and Andrew Erskine ’13, who placed eighth and ninth with times of 26:47.1 and 26:49.0, respectively. Seniors Dillon Buckley (27:05.1) and Patrick Grimes (27:12.9) were the next Jeffs across the line, taking 11th and 12th, while juniors Gus Greenstein (27:20.6) and Charlie Reighard (27:28.6) rounded out the Amherst scoring in 14th and 16th, respectively.

The Jeffs will take next weekend off before traveling to Bowdoin for the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27.
