Jeffs Take Fifth at USM Invitational

PORTLAND, Maine – Dan Crowley ’16 paced the Amherst men’s cross country team at the Southern Maine Invitational Saturday as the Jeffs finished fifth in the 19-team field with 113 total points.
Crowley led all Amherst runners with a time of 25:46.73 to finish ninth overall out of 284 runners. Placing shortly after the sophomore was KC Fussell ’15 with an 11th place finish and mark of 25:51.80.
Two more Amherst runners finished in the top-30, as Raymond Meijer ’17 and Alvaro Morales ’14 took 26th and 27th respectively. Meijer finished with a time of 26:19.52 and Morales placed four seconds later in 26:23.80. Jeff Seelaus ’16 rounded out the top-five for Amherst with a time of 26:47.52.
Also placing for the Jeffs were Gus Greenstein ’14 and Ben Fiedler ’17. Greenstein finished in 26:58.34 and Fielder placed with a time of 27:25.26.
MIT won the meet with 37 points followed by Bates in second with 85 and Bowdoin in third with 86. Tufts and Amherst rounded out the top-five.
The Jeffs return to action Saturday, September 28 at 11 a.m. for the Purple Valley Classic.
