Fussell Leads Jeffs at Little Three Championships

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - KC Fussell ’15 finished less than three seconds behind the pace set by individual champion Chris Lee ’14 to lead the Amherst men’s cross country team to a second-place showing at the Little Three Championships hosted by Wesleyan University.
Led by Lee, Williams put all five of its scoring harriers in the top-10 to claim the team title with 25 points. Amherst, with three runners in the top seven, came in second with 37 points, followed by the host Cardinals (67).
Clocking in at 25:57.0, Fussell finished less than three seconds after Lee’s time of 25:54.6. The Jeffs’ Dan Crowley ’16 edged out the Ephs' Bijan Mazaheri ’16 for third place, posting a time of 25:59.2. Greg Turissini ’15 also put forth a strong showing, finishing seventh overall with a time of 26:18.4.
Crossing the tape in 26:33.3, first-year Raymond Meijer was 11th in the field of 52, while senior Charlie Reighard ’14 was the only other Jeff to factor into the scoring, placing 14th with a time of 26:44.2.
Alvaro Morales ’14 was 17th, clocking in at 26:54.6, while Ben Fiedler ’17 and Kevin Conners ’17 were 23rd (27:23.1) and 24th (27:26.6), respectively. Romey Sklar ’15 turned in a time of 27:30.0, while Gus Greenstein ’14 (27:41.6) and Lucas Lebovitz ’15 (27:46.0) were the next Amherst runners to finish.
The Jeffs return to action on Saturday, Nov. 2 at the NESCAC Championships hosted by Connecticut College.
