Jeffs Place Eighth at NCAA New England Championships

PORTLAND, ME - The Amherst men's cross country team took eighth overall in the 50-team field at the NCAA Division III New England Championships on Saturday, Nov. 16, hosted by the University of Southern Maine.

Leading the pack was Williams with 77 team points followed by Middlebury (78), MIT (113), Tufts (142) and Bates (158) to round out the top-five. Colby (163) claimed sixth followed by Bowdoin (177) in seventh and Amherst grabbing eighth with 216 points to give the NESCAC seven members in the top-10.

Dan Crowley '16 paced the Jeffs at the event, finishing 18th overall out of 366 runners with a time of 25:12.94.

Crossing the finish line shortly after were Greg Turissini 15 and Charlie Reighard '14. Turissini claimed 32nd in the field with a time of 25:29.81, edging Reighard who took 35th with a mark of 25:31.53.

Rounding out the top-five for Amherst were KC Fussell '15 and Raymond Meijer '17 with times of 26:08.10 and 26:12.85, respectively. Alvaro Morales '14 and Steven Lucey '17 also ran for the Jeffs. Morales clocked in at 26:22.94 while Lucey crossed the finish line 27:11.78.

Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 23 for the NCAA Division III Championships at 12 p.m.
