Crowley Competes at NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships

HANOVER, Ind. - Dan Crowley ’16 of the Amherst men’s cross country team competed in the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championships on Saturday afternoon in Hanover, Ind., placing 175th overall in the 275-person field.
Leading all runners and taking the individual crown was Michael LeDuc ’14 from Conn. College. The senior finished in 24:29.30 while John Crain ’14 from North Central and Grant Wintheiser ’15 of St. Olaf finished second and third, respectively.
Crowley ran the first 2k in 6:19, finished 3k in 9:26, ran 6k in 19:33 and 7k in 22:56 on his way to a time of 26:25.50 in the 8k race with a 5.19 mile pace.
The sophomore excelled this season and paced the Jeffs in five of the team’s eight meets. He opened the fall season with a fourth place finish at the UMass Invitational in a field of 65 Division I runners with a mark of 19:29.75 in the 6200 meter run.
Crowley also paced Amherst at the USM Invitational with a ninth overall finish (25:46.73), the Purple Valley Classic, the NESCAC Championships, and a season-best mark of 25:12.94 in the 8k race at the NCAA New England Championships.
