Lambert Leads Amherst at Little Three Championships

placing 12th overall with a time of 27:01.3.
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Junior Keri Lambert (Amherst, Mass.) once again set the pace for the Lord Jeffs placing second while leading the Amherst men’s and women’s cross country teams at the Little Three Championships hosted by Williams.
Clocking in at 18:29.8, Lambert finished 4.7 seconds behind Williams’ Chiara Del Piccolo ’14, who took home the individual title. A two-time NESCAC Performer of the Week, Lambert has led the Amherst women in each of the squad’s four meets this season.
Junior Ali Simeone (Stoneham, Mass.) also impressed, finishing sixth (19:21.4), while Lauren Almeida ’13 (Reading, Mass.) and Sarah Daly ’13 (Wheaton, Ill.) placed 11th and 18th with times of 19:42.3 and 20:04.6, respectively. Elodie Reed ’13 (Bow, N.H.) rounded out the Jeffs’ top-five finishers, coming in 20th (20:08.0).
Williams, which saw eight of its harriers finish in the top 10, won the team championship with a meet-low score of 20, followed by Amherst (44) and Wesleyan (78).
On the men’s side, junior Andrew Erskine (Stamford, Conn.) led the way for Amherst by finishing 12th (27:01.3), followed closely by teammates KC Fussell ’15 (Monson, Mass.) and Patrick Grimes ’13 (Mansfield, Mass.) in 13th (27:02.1) and 14th (27:08.3), respectively.
Junior Dillon Buckley (Wilmington, Del.) crossed the tape in 27:17.5, placing 20th in the field of 73, while first-year Greg Turissini (Maumee, Ohio) came in 23rd (27:36.7).
Host Williams, behind individual winner Josephat Koima ’12 (26:20.4), captured the team crown with a score of 19, followed by Wesleyan (57) and Amherst (62).
The Lord Jeffs will next compete at the NESCAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Amherst, Mass.
