AMHERST, Mass. - The Amherst women’s cross country team opened its 2012 season at the UMass Minuteman Invitational, placing third in a six-school field that included three Division I programs.

Keri Lambert ’13 led the way for Amherst by finishing third overall (18:06.42), while Lizzy Briskin '13 and Lauren Almeida '15 finished 22nd (19:13.43) and 23rd (19:24.90), respectively.

Boston College took the top team honor (19), followed by Stonehill (78) and Amherst (87). Host UMass came in fourth (96), with Colgate (110) and Keene State (168) rounding out the field of six.

Putting forth a strong showing, eight Amherst harriers clocked in under the 20-minute mark, with six others completing the 5k course in under 21 minutes.
