Lambert, Jeffs Second at Little Three Championship

AMHERST, Mass. – Keri Lambert ’13 turned in another dominant performance, winning by nearly 50 seconds as the Amherst College women’s cross country team placed second behind Williams at the Little Three Championships hosted by the Jeffs on Saturday.
After finishing second in the event last year, Lambert easily paced the field this time, cruising through the five-kilometer course in 18:21.0. Williams’ Alison Smith crossed the line next in 19:10.0, followed shortly by Julia Mark of Wesleyan in 19:13.1.
Williams placed the next five finishers, giving the Ephs the team victory with 24 points. A trio of Jeffs followed, with Lizzy Briskin ’15, Lauren Almeida ’13, and Caroline Rose ’16 taking places nine through 12 with times of 19:29.0, 19:35.5, and 19:42.5, respectively. Amherst totaled 45 points as a team, with Betsy Black ’16 (20:01.6), Olivia Tarantino ’15 (20:02.9), and Elodie Reed ’13 (20:06.5) finishing in spots 16-18 overall to round out the scoring.
Wesleyan completed the team totals, finishing third with 70 points.
The Jeffs will take next weekend off before traveling to Bowdoin for the NESCAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 27.
