HADLEY, Mass. – Keri Lambert ’13 and Lizzy Briskin ’15 were named to the 2012 Women’s Cross Country All-NESCAC Team Tuesday in recognition of their performances at the conference’s championship race on Saturday, Oct. 27. Finishing first overall in the six-kilometer race, Lambert was also named the league’s Most Outstanding Performer.
The first team All-Conference nod marks the second of Lambert’s cross country career, after she finished second in last year’s NESCAC title meet on her way to an eighth-place, All-America showing at the national championship. The senior dominated the conference competition on Saturday, becoming the fourth Lord Jeff to win the event in the last six years as she beat Middlebury runner-up Addie Tousley by 47 seconds and shattered Bowdoin’s course record with a time of 20:33.45.
Briskin, meanwhile, finished 14th in a personal-best 22:14.04, using a strong finishing kick to secure second team honors. After not even competing at last year’s conference meet, Briskin has blossomed into a force as a sophomore, posting top-10 finishes at both the James Earley Invitational and Little Three Championship while finishing second for Amherst in all but one race this fall.
Lambert and Briskin’s efforts led 20th-ranked Amherst to a third-place team showing with 107 points as the Jeffs edged No. 17 Tufts and No. 28 Bates, who tied for fourth with 138 points each.
Amherst will continue its postseason next Saturday, Nov. 3, with the ECAC Championship race at Williams.
