Amherst Squad Takes 4th at ECAC Championships
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – A six-person contingent from the Amherst women’s cross country team placed fourth overall at the ECAC Championships hosted by Williams Saturday. Anna Berglund ’16 was the top Amherst finisher, taking 22nd in 24:00.85 on the six-kilometer course.
The Lord Jeffs totaled 157 team points, trailing only NESCAC foes Middlebury (31), Tufts (63), and Williams (140) in the 41-team event.
Following Berglund (pictured), Abby Hopper ’13 was the next Jeff across the line, finishing 28th in 24:13.10. Hot on her heels were Jessie Kaliski ’15 (24:19.37) and Amy Dao ’14 (24:27.43), who took 30th and 34th, respectively. Rebecca Alizzi placed 50th in 24:47.45 and Keelin Moehl ’16 (25:10.54) rounded out the Amherst scoring in 71st, while Lisa Walker ’14 (25:18.67) was the final Jeff to cross the line, taking 81st.
Running independently, Jennifer Van Wingerden of Drew paced the field in 22:54.65, while Middlebury’s Lucy Whipps was close behind her to lead all team competitors in 22:57.21.
Amherst will return to action with its full squad at the NCAA Regional Championship next Saturday, Nov. 10. Hosted by Westfield State, the race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
