Jeffs Finish Sixth at UMass Invitational
AMHERST, Mass. – The Amherst women’s cross country team competed in the UMass Cross Country Invitational Saturday, which featured five Division I schools and Amherst. The Jeffs finished sixth overall and were paced by first-year Savanna Gornisiewicz.
Boston College won the meet with 21 points followed by UConn with 55 and Vermont with 61.
Gornisiewicz led the Jeffs with a 33rd place finish in a field filled with 54 Division 1 runners. She posted a time of 18:58.56. Finishing shortly after her were Sophie Currin ’17 and Lizzy Briskin ’15 with times of 19:01.23 and 19:06.19 to claim 35th and 37th respectively.
Rounding out the top-five performers for Amherst were
Catherine Lowdon '17 with a mark of 19:11.71 and Jessie Kaliski '15 who finished in 19:15.61.
Betsy Black ’16 finished sixth for the Jeffs with a time of 19:27.75 and Amy Dao ’14 took seventh on the squad with a mark of 19:33.14.
Amherst returns to action Saturday, Sept. 28 for an 11:30 a.m. meet at the Purple Valley Classic.
