Jeffs Finish Fourth at ECAC Championships

Lowdon NESCAC.jpgBRISTOL, R.I. – Lisa Walker ’14 anchored the Amherst women’s cross country team on Saturday as the Jeffs finished fourth out of 47 teams at the 2013 ECAC Division III Championships.

Walker finished ninth overall to lead the Jeffs with a time of 23:02.66. Hannah Herrera ’17 posted the second fastest Amherst time with a mark of 23:45.72 to claim 30th overall while Anna Berglund ’16 finished just under three seconds later in 23:48.22 to take 32nd.

Rounding out the top-five performances for the Jeffs were Jasia Kaulbach ’14 and Sarah Foster ’16 with times of 24:14.18 and 24:17.98, respectively. Rachel Duong ’16 crossed the finish line in 24:45.74 and Lindsay Ewing ’15 recorded a time of 25:16.59 to wrap up Amherst’s list of competitors.

With its runners taking first and second overall, led by individual champion Catie Skinner (23:30.58), Middlebury took home the team title with 30 points. Williams claimed second (54) followed by Tufts (111), Amherst (164) and Wellesley (199) to round out the top five.

Closing out the top-10 were the University of New England (209), Bates (223), St. Joseph’s (L.I.) (260), Colby (317) and Trinity (330).

Amherst returns to action at the NCAA Regionals on Saturday, Nov. 16.
