Amherst's Dudzik, Calvert Earn All-NESCAC Honors
AMHERST, MA – The NESCAC announced today the members of the 2007 Field Hockey All-Conference teams, with a pair of Amherst College student-athletes earning postseason honors. Junior midfielder Alyssa Dudzik (Darien, CT) was named to the All-NESCAC First Team for the second straight year, while junior defender Catherine Calvert (Lawrenceville, NJ) earned a spot on the Second Team.
In 15 starts for the Jeffs this season, Dudzik tallied three goals and added a pair of assists for Amherst’s fourth highest point total (8). Her second straight First Team nod added to her already-impressive list of postseason accolades, as she was named to last year’s NFHCA Division III All-New England West Region First Team and All-America Third Team.
In addition to being a stellar defender, Calvert contributed four goals and four assists to the Amherst offense this year for the Jeffs’ third highest point total (12). She played a more offensive-minded game this year, as she led the NESCAC with six defensive saves during her rookie season and did not record a goal or assist until this year.
Dudzik and Calvert helped lead Amherst back to the seven-team NESCAC Championship, where the Jeffs fell to Williams College in the opening round, 3-1, with Calvert scoring Amherst’s lone goal of the game.
