Amherst Earns NFHCA National Academic Team Award

NFHCA

AMHERST, MA – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced earlier this month the 2008 Division III National Academic Squad honorees and the recipients of the Division III National Academic Team Award.

While Amherst College was honored with a National Academic Team Award for achieving at least a 3.0 GPA during the first semester of the 2008-09 academic year, 15 Lord Jeffs were named to the National Academic Squad for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the first semester.

Amherst is one of only nine Division III schools and one of only two NESCAC schools to place at least 15 members on the NFHCA National Academic Squad. Highlighting the Lord Jeff honorees is senior Catherine Calvert (Lawrenceville, NJ), who has been named to the National Academic Squad in each of her four years. Calvert—a two-time NESCAC All-Academic honoree and 2007 NFHCA All-Region First Team selection—is one of only six NESCAC student-athletes to earn the honor in each of the past four years.

The 15 Amherst honorees are listed below, with the complete list of 2008 NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and National Academic Team Award recipients available on the NFHCA official website.
