AMHERST, Mass. – The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) selected Amherst’s Katie McMahon ’13 on Friday as one of 60 seniors nationally to play in its prestigious 2012 Division III Senior Game. McMahon joins Wesleyan’s Tori Redding as the only NESCAC student-athletes invited to the event, which will take place on Nov. 17 at William Smith College.

Amherst’s all-time leader career points (152), goals (57), and assists (38), McMahon is enjoying another outstanding season in her final year wearing the Purple and White. Ranked fifth in the NESCAC with 30 points, the senior co-captain leads the Lord Jeffs with eight assists while joining Madeline Tank ’15 and Krista Zsitvay ’14 atop the team’s scoring column with 11 goals.

The NFHCA recognized McMahon as a third-team All-America pick in both 2010 and 2011, while the senior also garnered All-Region and All-NESCAC honors as a sophomore and junior. Last year, McMahon finished second in the conference in points (43) and goals (17), helping lead the Jeffs to the NCAA Quarterfinals.

McMahon and her teammates will look to extend their current season tomorrow, when the fifth-seeded Jeffs take on No. 1 Middlebury in the NESCAC semifinals at 11 a.m.
