Trip Wray Leads Lord Jeffs at Middlebury

AMHERST, MA – The Amherst College men’s golf team played among a field of 25 teams this weekend at the 27th Annual Duke Nelson Invitational. Playing at the par-71, 6,379 yard Ralph Myhre Golf Course on the campus of Middlebury College, the Lord Jeffs finished with a two-day total of 642 to place 16th overall.

Leading the Lord Jeffs at their second tournament of the year was senior co-captain Trip Wray (Walpole, MA) with a 79-78-157. Wray finished tied for 39th place individually to lead the squad in scoring. Sophomore Alex Butensky (Farmington, CT) finished tied for 52nd place with a 78-81-159, while rookie Nicholas Koh (Singapore) shot a 78-84-162 to tie for 70th place.

Sophomore Ben Johnston (New York, NY) finished tied for 87th with a two-day score of 164, while junior Mark Colp (Wareham, MA) finished tied for 124th with a 88-89-177.  RPI won the team event with a 306-300-606, followed by St. Anselm (613) and Manhattanville (614).

The Lord Jeffs will return to action next weekend at Williams College, playing in a two-day event at the Taconic Golf Club.
