Lord Jeffs Finish 12th in Field of 18 at Williams Invitational
Nate Belkin '12 tied for 27th in a field of 93 golfers to lead the Lord Jeffs over the weekend.
WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Amherst College men’s golf team finished 12th in a field of 18 teams at the Williams College Invitational. The two-day event was played at the par-71 Taconic Golf Club.
The host Ephs won the team title with a two-day score of 591, 20 shots ahead of Middlebury and Manhattanville, which tied for second place at 611.
Williams featured three of the top five players, with Robert Camp using an impressive Sunday score of 69 to finish only one over par at 143. Camp landed two strokes ahead of Bob Brusco (Worcester State), Seb Vik (Tufts) and Jack Ervasti (Williams), who tied for second place at three over par (145). The Ephs’ Jack Killea rounded out the top five individuals at 146.
Nate Belkin ’12 (Needham, MA) was the only Lord Jeff to shoot under 80 on both days, finishing with a 78-79-157 to tie for 27th. First-year Nicholas Koh (Singapore) recovered from Saturday’s score of 84 by shooting a team-low 76 on Sunday, finishing in a tie for 44th (160). Trip Wray ’11 (Walpole, MA) shot an 83-80-163, Mark Colp ’12 (Wareham, MA) recorded an 82 on each day, and Ben Johnston ’13 (New York, NY) rounded out the team with a 92-89-181.
The Lord Jeffs will return to action Saturday, Oct. 2, when they head to Trinity College for the NESCAC Championship Qualifier. The top four scoring teams in the weekend event will advance to the conference championships, which will take place in the spring.
