WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Jarvis Sill ’15 shot a two-day 152 to claim the individual title as the Amherst College men’s golf team placed sixth at the Williams Spring Invitational, played Saturday and Sunday amid cold and windy conditions at Taconic Golf Club.

After tying Hamilton’s Matt Yung for the lead with a 75 on Saturday, Sill secured sole possession of the medal with a solid second round as he carded a 77. Yung’s 81 on Sunday dropped him to third while Dylan Dethier of Williams took second (77-77-154).

The Ephs defended their home course ably, securing the team title with a two-day combined score of 633 while showing off their depth as the host’s B squad totaled a 644, edging out Hamilton (645) by a stroke for second. Trinity (647) and Middlebury (649) grabbed fourth and fifth places in front of the Lord Jeffs (654) while Bowdoin (689) and Wesleyan (819) completed the eight-team field.

James Line ’16 was the only Amherst golfer besides Sill to dip under 80 on either day as he used a 79 on Sunday to total 166 (87-79). Nicholas Koh ’14 was just behind the rookie with a two-day 168 (85-83) while Eric Hansen ’14 (85-85-170), Brandon Brown ’15 (91-83-174), and Alex Butensky ’13 (93-89-182) rounded out the Amherst competitors.

The Jeffs will be back on the links on Wednesday, hosting the Little III Championship at Hickory Ridge Golf Club.
