Sill, Line Lead Amherst at Middlebury

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Led by Jarvis Sill ’15 and James Line ’16 the Amherst men’s golf team tied for 10th out of 25 teams at Middlebury College’s 28th annual Duke Nelson Invitational.
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute rallied from 15 strokes back to take the team title with a two-day today total of 607 (313-294), while Skidmore (613-306-307) and the host Panthers (618-310-308) rounded out the top three.
Williams placed fourth with a two-round score of 619 (298-321), followed by Trinity (620-309-311), Clarkson (629-317-312) and St. Lawrence (632-312-320). Nichols (633-319-314) and Hamilton (636-317-319) came in eighth and ninth, respectively, with Springfield (638-317-321) and Amherst (638-313-325) tying for 10th.
Shooting an eight over par 79 on day one at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course, Sill carded an 80 on Sunday afternoon to lead all Jeff golfers. Line also finished with a two-day 159, including a team, tournament low, two over 73 in round one.
Alex Butensky ’13 twice shot 80, while Josh Moser ’15 shaved two strokes of his first day total of 81 en route to a two-round 160.
Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 22-23 at the Williams Invitational.
