Men's Golf Ties For Eighth at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - Nicholas Koh ’14 shaved 13 strokes off his first round total, carding a two-day 159 to lead the men’s golf team to an eighth-place tie at the Williams Invitational.

Posting an 86 in the first round of competition, Koh regrouped, tying a tournament-low with a two over par 73 in round two to finish as the Jeffs’ top golfer.

Williams’ “A” team, led by individual champions Dylan Dethier (149) and Matt McCarron (149),  took home the tournament’s top honor with a two-day total of 584 (292-292), besting Middlebury (599-301-298) by 15 strokes. Babson came in third (602-298-304), followed by Trinity (603-300-303).

The Ephs’ ‘B’ squad (612-298-314) tied Salem State (612-304-308) for fifth, while Hamilton finished seventh (614-303-311). Western New England (616-301-315) and Amherst (616-307-309) tied for eighth, with Springfield posting a 620 (301-319) to round out the top-10.

Jarvis Sill ’15 shot a two-day 166 (82-84) to tie for 50th in a field of 96 alongside teammate Josh Moser ’15 (78-88). Ben Johnston ’13 handed in a 167 with rounds of 80 and 87, while Mark Colp ’13 rounded out the list of Amherst competitors, taking three strokes off his day one total to post a 167 (85-82).

The Lord Jeffs will host the NESCAC Fall Qualifier on Sept. 29-30.
