Jeffs Finish Sixth at NESCAC Spring Opener

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – Nicholas Koh ’14 finished seventh overall at the NESCAC Spring Opener to lead the Amherst College men’s golf team to a sixth place finish Sunday at the Taconic Golf Club hosted by Williams College.
The Jeffs finished with a two-day 622 (314-308) to take sixth in the eight-team field. Williams won the tournament with a team score of 593 (300-293) while Middlebury (601), Williams ‘B’ team (609), Hamilton (609) and Trinity (614) finished second through five, respectively. Bowdoin placed seventh (669) and Wesleyan finished eighth (796).
Greg Palmer of Trinity won the tournament with a 142 (68-74) to finish even par. Koh highlighted the day for Amherst, taking seventh after cutting nine strokes off his round one score. With a 79 on day one, Koh finished strong on Sunday with a 70 to record a two-day 149.
Earning another top-10 finish for the Purple & White in the 45-person field was Jarvis Sill ’15 with a 153 (73-80). He finished in a tie for 10th with three others.
Harrison Marick ’17 took three strokes off his day one score to finish with a 157 (80-77), placing in a tie at 22nd overall, while Nicholas Kafker ’17 finished 30th with a 163 (82-81) to round out the top performances for Amherst.
The Jeffs are back in action Wednesday, Apr. 23 for the Little Three Championships at Williams.
