Line Leads Jeffs at Duke Nelson Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – James Line ’16 of the Amherst men’s golf team posted a two-day score of 146 to lead the Jeffs at the Duke Nelson Invitational, hosted by Middlebury College. Amherst finished 12th in the 22-team field with a two-day team total of 629 (307-322).
Line’s consistent play featured a day one score of 74 followed by a 72 on Sunday. The sophomore finished sixth overall out of 114 players.
Josh Moser ’15 and Liam Fine ’17 posted the second and third lowest scores for the Jeffs respectively. Moser finished the first round with a 75 but added six strokes to his round two score to finish with a two-day 156. Fine posted back-to-back scores of 79 to finish with a 158.
Rounding out the top-five for the Jeffs were Erik Hansen ’14 and Brandon Brown ’15 who both carded a 172.
Middlebury won the tournament with a team total 596 (292-304) followed by Clarkson with a 597 (300-297) and Williams who shot 599 (294-305).
Amherst is back in action Saturday, Sept. 21 for the two-day Williams Invitational.
