Lord Jeffs Tie for Ninth at Dartmouth Invitational

Senior captain Kinne Schwartz tied for 25th place at the Dartmouth Invitational.

HANOVER, NH – The Amherst College women’s golf team finished day one of the Dartmouth Invitational in 13th place, but the Lord Jeffs played well Sunday at the Hanover Country Club to wrap up the two-day tournament in a tie for ninth place in a field of 20 teams.

Competing against several Division I programs, the Lord Jeffs fared well in their first tournament of the 2009-10 season. Amherst first-year Liz Monty (North Granby, CT) was impressive in her collegiate debut, as her two-day total of 156 left her in a tie for 10th place among the 105 golfers. Monty shot an 81 on Saturday before shaving six strokes on Sunday for a 75.

Senior captain Kinne Schwartz (Allen, TX) tied for 25th place with a 161 after shooting a 77 on Sunday, seven shots better than her Saturday total. Finishing within three strokes of each other and rounding out the Amherst golfers were sophomores Elaine Lin (Clarksville, MD), Nina Yoo (Duluth, GA) and Laura Monty (North Granby, CT).

Towson University took home the team title with a 625, edging runner-up Boston College by two shots. Eunice Yim of Boston College won the individual crown with a 75-74-149. Williams College joined Amherst in a tie for ninth place, while Middlebury rounded out the group in 20th.

The Lord Jeffs return to action Saturday, Sept. 26 when they kick off the Mount Holyoke Invitational at The Orchards.
