Amherst Places Second at Wellesley Invite
First-year Alissa Korpi helped Amherst to its best finish of the season.
WELLESLEY, MA - The Amherst College women's golf team finished in second place at the Wellesley College Invitational when play wrapped up this afternoon. The Lord Jeffs shot a second day 334 to remain even with eventual champion Wellesley on the day, and finish seven strokes off the pace after leap-frogging Williams College in the standings.
First-year Hayley Milbourn (Baltimore, MD) led the team once again this weekend with a second place individual finish. Milbourn shot the tournament's overall low round with a 74 today, but finished two strokes behind Wellesley's Kimberly Eaton.
Classmate Alissa Korpi (Chaska, MN) finished in a two-way tie for 12th place individually, with an 84-88-172. Finishing just behind Korpi for Amherst were sophomores Alex Chang-Graham (San Carlos, CA), who tied for 14th place, and Kinne Schwartz (Allen, TX) in 16th place.
Senior captain Ali Berman (Boca Raton, FL) rounded out the scoring for Amherst in a tie for 18th place individually.
Amherst led the field in scoring on par-4s at the Nehoiden Golf Course this weekend, and finished with the team's best result of the fall season. Amherst will take the rest of the fall and winter off before returning to action in the spring for another run at the NCAA Championships.
