WILLIAMSTOWN, MA – The Amherst College women’s golf team wrapped up its fall season by placing fifth in a field of 14 teams at the Williams College Fall Classic. Middlebury College claimed the team and individual titles, with Courtney Mazzei shooting a 149 to land comfortably in first place overall.

The Lord Jeffs shot a two-day total of 660 to finish just three strokes behind the host Ephs and Mount Holyoke College, who tied for third. Saint Lawrence University finished as the runner up with a 654.

Amherst sat in third place after Saturday with a 326, just one stroke behind co-leaders Williams and Mount Holyoke, as four Lord Jeffs shot an 83 or lower. The tables turned on Sunday, however, when Middlebury saw an eight-stroke improvement to pull ahead from the rest of the pack, with the Jeffs shooting a 334 on day two.

Sophomore Hayley Milbourn (Baltimore, MD) led Amherst by tying for fifth place with a 161, while first-year Laura Monty (North Granby, CT), junior captain Kinne Schwartz (Allen, TX) and first-year Elaine Lin (Clarksville, MD) finished within three strokes of each other with two-day totals of 165, 167 and 168, respectively. Rounding out the group effort was first-year Nina Yoo (Duluth, GA), who tied for 35th place with a 175.

Competing as individuals were junior Alex Chang-Graham (San Carlos, CA) and sophomore Jordan Chafetz (Palos Verdes, CA). Chang-Graham put in one of the most impressive performances of her collegiate career, shooting an 81 on Sunday to finish in a tie for 18th place. Chafetz landed in 47th place with a 90-94-184.

The Williams Fall Classic marked the end of the fall season for the Lord Jeffs, who will not return to action until the spring season.
