SOUTH HADLEY, MA – The Amherst College women’s golf team was able to climb one spot in the standings on the final day of the 2010 Mount Holyoke Invitational, finishing in third place within the 13 team field. Amherst junior Nina Yoo (Duluth, GA) led the Lord Jeffs in the two-day event at The Orchards Golf Club, finishing tied for seventh individually with a two-day score of 157.

Yoo fired a three-over par 75 on day one, leaving her just one shot back from the leader in a four-way tie for second place on Saturday. Yoo finished Sunday with a 10-over par 82, falling to seventh place to pace the Jeffs. Senior Hayley Milbourn (Baltimore, MD) and junior Elaine Lin (Clarksville, MD) both shot five-over par 77s on Sunday, carrying them to 10th and 17th place finishes, respectively.

Rookie Sooji Choi (Corona, CA) shot back-to-back 83s at the two-day event, settling into a tie for 31st place individually with a 166. Classmate Kristen Lee (Los Altos, CA) finished with an 87-90-177 to place 48th individually, while sophomore Irene Hickey (Glencoe, IL) finished in 41st place individually with a 88-85-173 playing as an independent entry. Hickey's play of late will surely make her a candidate to break into the Amherst top-5 in the near future.

The Lord Jeffs finished with a combined score of 323-319-642 and were edged in the team standings by Williams (304-311-615) and New York University (315-326-641).

Amherst will return to action next weekend at the Middlebury Invitational, with play taking place on October 2-3 at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
