Lord Jeffs Place Second at Wellesley to End Fall Season
WELLESLEY, MA - The Amherst College women's golf team wrapped up its fall season this afternoon with a second place finish at the 2010 Ann S. Batchelder Invitational, hosted by Wellesley College. The Lord Jeffs shot a two-day 670 to finish 44 strokes behind eventual champion Williams for the runner-up spot in the six team field.
Amherst was led by sophomore Liz Monty (N. Granby, CT), who shot a team-best 76 on Sunday to finish third individually. After carding an opening day 81, Monty finished the event with a 13-over par 157. Monty was followed closely by Elaine Lin (Clarksville, MD), who finished in 6th place individually. Lin finished 18-over par, with an 84-78-162 at the Nehoiden Golf Club.
Senior captain Hayley Milbourn (Baltimore, MD) tied for ninth place individually with a 90-79-169, while Nina Yoo (Duluth, GA) placed 18th overall with an 89-93-182. Amherst's final score came from Kristen Lee (Los Altos, CA) with a 92-93-185.
Rookie Sooji Choi (Corona, CA) played in the tournament as an individual entry, landing in a tie alongside Lee for 19th place with a 98-87-185. Williams standout Alexandra Groetsema finished 1-over par to win the event, while the Ephs won the team title.
