Jeffs Tie for Third at Wellesley

WELLESLEY, Mass. – Liz Monty ’13 shot a three-over 75 on Sunday to lead the Amherst College women’s golf team to a tie for third place out of seven at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational. With Williams taking home the team title with a 623 two-day total, the Jeffs matched Vassar at 672. Merrimack posted a 636 for second.
After firing a 79 on Saturday, Monty’s strong second round gave her a two-day total of 154, good for third place individually behind Williams’ Georgiana Salant (148) and Mt. Holyoke’s Madi Mendiola (152).
Sooji Choi ’14 was also key to Amherst’s finish, taking 10th overall with scores of 82 and 79 (161). Devyn Gardner '16 and Katherine Britt '15 finished within the top 20, taking 17th and 20th, respectively, with two-day totals of 177 (89, 88) and 180 (93, 87).
Irene Hickey '13 rounded out the Amherst scoring with totals of 98 and 91 (189) while CJ Bernstein '15 also competed, carding scores of 96 and 94 (190).
Finishing behind the Jeffs were Wellesley (727), Mount Holyoke (746), and Westfield State (1022).
The event marks the conclusion of Amherst’s fall season. The Jeffs will be back in action in the spring, beginning at the Vassar Invitational April 13-14, 2013.
