Jeffs Place Fourth at Middlebury Invitational

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Led by first-year Jamie Gracie’s two-day 169, the Amherst women’s golf team placed fourth out of nine programs at the Middlebury College Invitational.
Shaving seven strokes off her first round total, Gracie carded an 81 on Sunday to finish tied for 13th overall. Posting an 85 in both of her rounds, Kristen Lee ’14 tied for 16th with teammates Sooji Choi ’14 and Devyn Gardner ’16.
Turning in an 80 on day one, Choi had a tougher go the second time around, shooting a 90 in round two. Carding an 83 on Saturday, Gardner fell four strokes off the pace over the final 18 holes with an 87. Katherine Britt ’15 rounded out the list of Jeff competitors with a two-day total of 176 (86-90).
Led by individual champion Sarah Hasselman, Williams took home the team title with a score of 628 (316-312). Teammates Georgiana Salant (81-75) and Shelby Shote (74-82) tied for second with a 156 as the Ephs put all five of their golfers in the top eight.
Host Middlebury, led by Jordan Glatt’s 161, placed second overall (664) followed by Mount Holyoke with a two-round total of 669. Carding a 334 in the first round, Amherst finished fourth in the team scoring with a two-round total of 677, with Vassar (726), Bowdoin (741) and Westfield State (824) coming in fifth through seventh.
The Jeffs return to action on Oct. 5-6 at Williams’ Fall Classic.
