Members of the Class of '91 celebrated their 20th reunion at this year's game

AMHERST, MA – After another successful fall campaign, the Amherst men’s soccer team recently welcomed back the program’s alumni to Gooding Field for the squad’s annual Reunion Game on Friday, May 27.

Held in conjunction with the College’s general Reunion Weekend festivities, the game drew a host of former Lord Jeffs from different decades, with the Purple squad, comprised of alumni with odd years of graduation, holding off the White side with even years of graduation, 4-2.

Notably present were members of the class of 1991, celebrating their 20th reunion. Members included: Eric Satz, Jeremy Lewis, Scott Sullivan, John Morris, Eric Brehn, Dave Hosford, Jon Dunbar, David Sutpher, and Greg Dougherty.

Also participating were: Jerome De Bontin ’81, Jim Burrows ’80, Ben Lavely ’06, Joe Gannon ’06, Roger Pennington ’64, Ted Sung ’96, Jeff Snider ’86, Greg Lockwood 06, Rick Lugli ’86, Doug Lyons ’86, Stephen Jackson ’81, Tim Thornton ’80, Sam Andrews '80, Dave Wilson ’82, Tom Cronin ‘81 and Chris Hall ’81.

The game showed a balance of chances from each team in the early going, but team Purple struck first, making the most of their opportunities en route to a 2-1 halftime edge.  Cronin, Morris and Hosford highlighted the action in the first, with Cronin showing his endurance and ability during several nice runs up the right flank, while Morris and Hosford controlled the middle of the field.

With the pace slowing down for much of the second stanza, team Purple all but put the game out of reach, netting a third tally with about 10 minutes remaining before eventually securing a 4-2 triumph.

Amherst Men’s Soccer would like to thank all of the attendees for ensuring the success of this year’s reunion game, especially David Wilson who helped organize the event.
