AMHERST, MA- The New England Small College Athletic Conference named Amherst College sophomore Spencer Noon (Farmington, CT) the Men’s Soccer Co-Player of the Week alongside Middlebury’s Jake Edwards this afternoon. Noon helped Amherst to wins over Connecticut College and Bridgewater State this weekend, lifting the Lord Jeffs to an unbeaten 4-0-2 record after six games.

Heading into the weekend, Noon sat atop the Amherst scoring ranks with a pair of goals and an assist through four games. Against Conn College on Saturday, Noon converted a penalty kick in the 68th minute to break a scoreless deadlock. The goal was a huge shift in momentum for Amherst, which seemed destined for overtime for the third straight conference game.

Shortly after the score, the Camels were reduced to ten men on the field following a second yellow card for Ryland Hormel. Noon needed just 43 seconds to seal the victory, making a near post run on a corner kick to redirect a header into the far side netting for his second tally of the day.

On Sunday, Amherst traveled to Bridgewater State for a non-conference tilt. The Amherst offense continued to roll, scoring five goals in the shutout win, with Noon putting home the third goal of the game. The win was Amherst’s third straight shutout victory, capping an eight day period that saw the Jeffs outscore their opposition by a 14-0 margin.

With his three goal weekend, Noon sits on five goals and an assist for 11 points in six games. The award is also Noon's second career Player of the Week honor after earning the title for the week ending September 14, 2009.

Noon and the Lord Jeffs will return to action on Saturday afternoon at NESCAC and Little Three archrival Williams College for a 12 p.m. game.
