Spencer Noon '13 collected three goals and an assist in wins over Colby-Sawyer and Bridgewater State.
SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Spencer Noon ’13 has been named the NESCAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week after a strong opening weekend in which he collected seven points on three goals and an assist.
Serving as one of the catalysts for the conference’s highest scoring offense last season, Noon became the program’s all-time leader in career points and goals as a junior. Having recorded seven two-goal performances entering 2012, he opened the year in similarly grand fashion, netting his first collegiate hat trick in a 6-0 victory over Colby-Sawyer.
Breaking a scoreless deadlock in the 20th minute, he headed in a flick on from classmate Alejandro Sucre ’13 before striking again at 36:02, finishing off a nice through ball into the box from Milton Rico ’15. Less than eight minutes into the second half, Noon capped off his stellar afternoon, heading another marker in traffic to extend the Amherst lead to 3-0. Scoring at least two goals in a season opener for the second time in his career, Noon accounted for both scores in a 2-0 win over Bowdoin in 2009.
Making several dangerous runs while notching three shots against Bridgewater State the following day, Noon picked out Julien Aoyama ’14 with a well placed cross into the box in the 58th minute to help seal the Jeffs' second victory and his seventh point in three games.
Amherst returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 15 at Bates.
