SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. - Four Jeffs were named to the NESCAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference teams, led by Spencer Noon ’13, who garnered his second-consecutive first team selection. Joining Noon on the first team is senior defender Chris Lerner, while Jae Heo ’14 and Julien Aoyama ’14 garnered recognition on the second team.

Last season’s NESCAC Player of the Year, Noon has continued to flourish, becoming just the first player in program history to surpass the 100-point plateau (110). The school’s all-time leader in career goals (46), he once again tops the league in both points (27) and markers (11) after pacing the conference in both categories a year ago.

Netting his first career hat trick in the season opener against Colby-Sawyer, Noon has eight multi-goal games to his credit and has factored into the scoring in 12 of the Jeffs’ 17 games this season.

Completing Amherst’s dynamic one-two punch up top, Heo sits second in the NESCAC in points (22), while tying for fourth in goals (7). Finding the back of the opposing net in each of his first five games, he has factored into the scoring in 12 of the team’s contests, while dishing out five assists over the last month of the season.

Earning his first All-NESCAC selection, he has already matched his career assist total with eight helpers on the year. In 55 appearances over the course of three seasons, the junior has compiled 72 points on 28 goals and 16 assists.

Anchoring the Jeffs’ defensive efforts, Lerner and Aoyama have played an integral role in solidifying Amherst’s top-ranked unit. Surrendering just two goals on the season, the Jeffs currently lead the nation in goals-against average (0.12) and shutout percentage (0.88). Allowing just 36 shots on goal in 17 games, Amherst’s backline has helped post a program record 15 shutouts.

Also contributing offensively, Aoyama is in the midst of a breakout season, recording 11 points on four goals and three assists. Serving as the catalyst to many of the Jeffs’ set pieces, Lerner has notched three helpers, notably having a hand in both of the Jeffs’ goals in a 2-0 victory over archrival and previously unbeaten Williams in the NESCAC Championship game.
