Fikke Earns NESCAC Player of the Week Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - Max Fikke '14 of the second-ranked Amherst men's soccer team earned NESCAC Player of the Week honors on Monday, as announced by the conference office.
Fikke scored the game-winning goal in the 48th minute of the NESCAC Championship to give the Jeffs a 1-0 win over archrival Williams at Hitchcock Field. It marked Amherst's third-straight conference title and fourth overall. The Jeffs also extended their unbeaten streak to 37 games and earned their eighth-consecutive NCAA appearance.
The senior forward was instrumental in the Jeffs 2-1 double-overtime win against Bowdoin in the semifinals as well, recording three shots with one on goal.
Amherst will host first and second round games of the NCAA tournament on Saturday, Nov. 16 and Sunday, Nov. 17. The Jeffs will play Bridgewater State at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday in first round action.
