Lili Ferguson Named NESCAC Player of the Week

AMHERST, MA – Amherst College sophomore Lili Ferguson (Winnetka, IL) was named the NESCAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for leading the Lord Jeffs to a pair of in-conference shutouts, including a 1-0 overtime win at Colby College. Ferguson is the first member of this year’s Amherst team to earn the Player of the Week honor.

Amherst’s week began with a 2-0 win over Trinity College on Wednesday, as Ferguson faced eight shots and made three saves to help the Jeffs gain sole possession of third place in the NESCAC standings. Amherst traveled to Colby on Saturday, where Ferguson made six saves through the first 90 minutes of action to lead the Jeffs into overtime, where they eventually prevailed, 1-0.

Ferguson increased her save percentage to .818 and decreased her goals-against average to 1.01, both of which are fifth best in the NESCAC, and has now recorded five shutouts on the year. She has gone nearly 362 minutes without surrendering a goal, as she has not been scored on since the first half of Amherst’s 3-1 win over Bowdoin College Sept. 29.

The Lord Jeffs return to action Wednesday for a conference match-up with Conn. College. Game time is set for 4 p.m. in New London, CT.
