AMHERST, Mass. – Amherst College women’s soccer standouts Kathryn Nathan ’13 and Jill Kochanek ’12 continued to rake in postseason awards by earning selections to the All-America and ECAC Division III New England All-Star teams today.

The two Lord Jeffs are the only NESCAC players to earn a spot on this year’s All-America Team, with Nathan earning Second Team honors and Kochanek taking home a Third Team selection. This is the second All-America award for Nathan, who was voted to the NSCAA First Team earlier this month.

Kochanek and Nathan are two of only six NESCAC student-athletes to earn an ECAC All-Star selection. Amherst joins Endicott College as the only schools to place two players on the All-Star First Team.

These are the third and fourth postseason awards of the year for Kochanek, who was also named to the NESCAC All-Conference and NSCAA All-Region First Teams. She wrapped up an outstanding career as one of the best defenders in all of Division III, starting in 71 games and recording 23 points in four years. In 2011 she led a defensive unit that allowed 0.62 goals per game and tied the program record for shutouts in a season (11).

Nathan’s postseason awards began to pour in when she earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team and was chosen as the conference’s Co-Player of the Year. She followed up with selections to the NSCAA All-Region and All-America First Teams, as her breakout junior season helped her gain recognition as one of the best midfielders in the country. In 2011 she was among the NESCAC’s leading scorers (9-9-27) and helped the Jeffs tie a program record for goals in a season (58). All-America Team
