Men's Tennis Shuts Out Sewanee 9-0 on the Road

CHATTANOOGA, TN - The Amherst College men’s tennis team traveled to Chattanooga, TN for the second match of their spring break. Amherst swept the doubles matches on the way to a convincing 9-0 victory against 29th-ranked Sewanee Univeristy.

In the singles line up senior co-captain Jeff Wan (Staten Island, NY) and junior Zack Lerner (Scarsdale, NY) saw their first singles action of the year.

While first year Sean Doerfler (Douglaston, NY) and Wan dominated their singles matches, Lerner, ranked 11th in the nation, took on fellow all-American Charlie Boyd. After being down 2-0 in the first set he came back to win in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.

Senior co-captain Mike Mintz (New York, NY), freshman Moritz Koenig (Hamburg, Germany) and sophomore Daniel Kim (Springfield, MI) pulled out close victories at the second, fifth, and sixth spots, respectively.
