No. 3 Jeffs Blow Past Hamilton, Wesleyan

AMHERST, Mass. – The third-ranked Amherst men’s tennis team extended its win streak to 16 matches with a pair of 9-0 victories over Hamilton and Wesleyan.

Now 28-2 overall, the Jeffs will put their unblemished NESCAC record (7-0) on the line against archrival No. 5 Williams on Sunday, Apr. 20.

Russell Einbinder ’16 and Chris Dale ’14 headlined Amherst’s doubles pairings against Hamilton, defeating Ian Antonoff ’16 and Matthew Billet ’15, 8-1. Sean Rodriguez ’15 and Justin Hendrix ’14 dispatched of Ben Swett ’14 and Devin White ’17, 8-4, while Myles Tang ’17 and Carlos de Bracamonte ’16 downed Austin Lokre ’16 and Max McKee-Proctor ’17, 8-1.

In singles action, Einbinder ousted Swett, 6-1, 6-2, while Hendrix handled Billet, 6-0, 6-3. Ben Fife ’16 dropped just two games in a 6-0, 6-2 third singles victory over Jonathan Cohen ’17, while Andrew Arnaboldi ’17 got the best of Antonoff, 6-2, 6-0. Brenton Arnaboldi ’14 earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Jack Vissicchio ’17 at fifth singles, 6-0, 6-1, while de Bracamonte turned away McKee-Proctor, 6-1, 6-2.

Joey Fritz ’14 and Justin Reindel ’14 outlasted Wesleyan’s Sam Rudovsky ’16 and Jake Roberts ’17 at first doubles, 9-8, while Michael Solimano ’16 and Aaron Revzin ’16 upended Greg Lyon ’17 and Cameron Hicks ’17, 8-1. Anton Zykov ’17 and Andrew Yaraghi ’16 beat out Zachary Brint ’16 and Charlie Seifer ’15, 8-4.

Fritz made quick work of Roberts, 6-1, 6-0, while Dale took down Michael Liu ’17, 6-3, 6-2. Solimano turned down Stephen Monk ’15, 6-1, 7-6, while Zykov downed Rudovsky, 6-2, 6-3. Yaraghi edged out Michael King ’16 in the afternoon’s only three-set match, 6-0, 4-6, 10-8, while Reindel shut out Seifer, 6-0, 6-0.
