Top-Ranked Amherst Shuts Out Bowdoin, Trinity

SOUTH HADLEY, MA – The top-ranked Amherst College women’s tennis team increased its winning streak to 10 matches by shutting out Bowdoin and Trinity Saturday afternoon. Matches were moved indoors to Mount Holyoke College due to poor weather conditions.

The Lord Jeffs (14-1, 7-0 NESCAC) will wrap up their regular season when they travel to take on 10th-ranked Middlebury College on Sunday, May 1. The NESCAC Championship is set to begin Friday, May 6 at Middlebury.

Laura Danzig ’12 (Allendale, NY) and Mimi Bell ’11 (Cleveland, OH) stood out during Amherst’s 9-0 win over Bowdoin, first teaming up for an 8-2 win over Emma Lewis and Emily Lombardi in the No. 2 doubles match. Danzig then cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory against Lombardi in the top singles matchup, while Bell came from behind to defeat Hannah Hoerner in a thriller (3-6, 6-0, 19-17).
