Amherst Wins Eighth Straight With 3-0 Victory at WNEC

SPRINGFIELD, MA - The Amherst College volleyball team ran its winning streak to eight matches with a 3-0 victory over Western New England College in a non-league meeting Wednesday night at the Alumni Healthful Living Center. Amherst won the three sets by scores of 25-14, 25-19, and 25-23.

The Lord Jeffs improved their record to 11-1, while the Golden bears fall to 8-11.

Amherst junior outside hitters Cristy Meier (San Anselmo, CA) and Katherine Kanoff (Pacific Palisades, CA) led the visitors with 10 and eight kills, respectively. Senior middle hitter Laura Hyman (Glencoe, IL) added six kills.

Sophomore setter Callie Nelson (Escondido, CA) contributed 30 assists while senior defensive specialist Rachel Yorke (Los Angeles, CA) chipped-in with 28 digs.

Western New England College senior middle blocker Lauren Landri had a team high nine kills. Junior middle blocker Kristen Jordan had a nice outing with four kills and four blocks.

Also for the Golden Bears, senior libero Marci Egbert and sophomore outside hitter Jennifer Mears each had 11 digs. Senior setter Katharina Boes (Buffalo Grove, IL) dished out 27 assists.
