Volleyball Tops Conn College and Wesleyan in NESCAC Play

Rachel Yorke had 60 digs combined in wins over
Conn College and Wesleyan today.

AMHERST, MA - The Amherst College volleyball team racked up another pair of wins over Conn College and Wesleyan University this afternoon in NESCAC action at home. The Lord Jeffs beat the Cardinals 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-16) and the Camels 3-1 (25-27, 27-25, 25-20, 25-18) to improve to 17-1 on the year and 7-1 in conference play.

In the first match of the day, Amherst was led by 11 kills apiece from Cristy Meier (San Anselmo, CA) and Katherine Kanoff (Pacific Palisades, CA) . Jackie Berkley (Fullerton, CA) and Laura Hyman (Glencoe, IL) each had five kills, with Hyman adding a pair of blocks.

Rachel Yorke (Los Angeles, CA) led the defense with 25 digs, while fellow senior Erin Camp (Santa Monica, CA) and rookie Devin Pence (Los Angeles, CA) chipped in with 17 and 12 digs, respectively. Callie Neilson (Escondido, CA) started her afternoon with 32 assists against Wesleyan.

In the nightcap, Meier and Berkley added another 14 kills apiece. Kanoff was solid once again with a dozen kills, while Hyman had six kills and six blocks. Berkley and junior Mary Reiser (New York, NY) had six blocks apiece, while Kanoff helped out on the back line with 12 digs.

Yorke and Pence were outstanding against Conn College with 35 and 24 digs, respectively. Camps was a solid contributor as well, registering 16 digs in the second win of the day
