Keeno Named Capital One Academic All-District

Kristin Keeno '13 maintains a 3.73 GPA as a double major while also leading the NESCAC in digs per set.
AMHERST, Mass. - Junior libero Kristin Keeno (Honolulu, Hawaii) of the Amherst women’s volleyball team has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today.
In order to be eligible, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and have significant athletic credentials. First team honorees across eight districts are automatically considered for the Capital One Academic All-America team, which will be announced on Tuesday, Dec. 13.
The NESCAC’s lone representative on the All-District team, Keeno currently maintains a 3.73 grade-point average as a chemistry and asian languages and civilization double major. Enjoying her most impressive statistical season to date, she recently helped the Lord Jeffs to a 20-7 overall mark and a 13th consecutive berth in the conference tournament.
Averaging just 2.40 digs per set entering 2011, Keeno had a breakout year, finishing first in the NESCAC in digs with 6.23 per frame. Upping her career total to 861 digs, Keeno collected double-digit digs in all but one match this season, surpassing the 20-dig plateau on 15 occasions. She recorded a season-high 38 digs in a 3-1 win over Western New England while tallying her fifth 30-plus dig outing in a thrilling 3-2 comeback win over archrival Williams that helped the Jeffs secure the No. 5 seed in the league championship.
